This self-initiated project aimed to reimagine the Seattle area transit map design, focusing on the Link light rail and Sounder lines. The goal was to create a visually appealing, simplified map and a redesigned ORCA card that would showcase the city’s rail network while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
While functional, the existing Seattle transit map and ORCA card designs lack visual appeal and modern aesthetics. They miss the opportunity to create an engaging representation of Seattle’s transit system. More visually striking and cohesive designs could enhance user experience and potentially attract more riders.
Transit Map Poster:
- Designed a stylized map highlighting only the rail lines for clarity.
- Used a limited color palette to distinguish between different lines.
- Incorporated water features to provide geographical context.
ORCA Card Redesign:
- Utilized the map design as a visual motif on the card.
- Maintained the recognizable ORCA branding while updating its look.)
